Much of my social media management experience comes from my internship with Project Scientist. Project Scientist is a non-profit STEM education organization for young girls.
During my Spring 2016 semester, I worked with the organization as the Public Relations Intern. I took care of several administrative and account management duties but I also managed some social media near the end of the internship.
Just before I left, I attended the organization’s teacher training workshop where a lead instructor trains teachers to lead the annual summer camp. I sat in on the training and provided live Instagram coverage.
I had provided live Twitter coverage for events, but this was my first time using another organization’s Instagram account for event coverage. It was a powerful experience that allowed me to be more creative and embody the organization’s voice in a bit more than 140 characters.
You can see my full coverage of the event here.
